Irene has an expressive painting style, reflecting her interest in a wide range of subjects. Her preferred medium is oil on canvas, using brush or pallet knife, as well as the use of acrylic and acrylic inks. One of her artistic creations is the Rinki Collection, a quirky take on African animals, which was developed into a merchandise range, endorsed by the World Wild Life Fund.

Irene regularly curates exhibitions and commissions under the Artmark Africa identity. She is the former President of the South African Society of Artists (SASA), a member of the Constantiaberg Art Society (CAS), Watercolor ArtSA (WASA) and the Arts Association of Bellville.

Her paintings have been sold to private collections in America, South Africa, Russia, Italy, Germany, Mauritius, Canada, Malaysia, Holland, Australia and the UK.

An auction of one of her wildlife works at the Spier wine estate helped raise over R100,000 for the Save the Rhino Foundation and found a new home in Texas.
